课程简介
Description of the Course
Course Description
This course will cover concepts, mechanisms, and some of the latest progresses in atmospheric chemistry. It starts with fundamentals of atmospheric chemistry. Basic ideas in atmospheric physics, including models and transport, geophysical cycles, and greenhouse effects, will be presented to assist a full and better understanding of atmospheric chemistry. The main body of this course will cover chemical kinetics, stratospheric chemistry, tropospheric chemistry, aerosol physics and chemistry, and air pollution and acid rain. In a special circumstance, a selected aspect of atmospheric chemistry with latest progresses will be discussed.
Course Objectives
This course is an elective for undergraduate students in the Environmental Science major. The fundamental aspects of atmospheric chemistry, including stratospheric chemistry, tropospheric chemistry, and aerosol physics and chemistry, will be presented during the lectures. The goal of this course is to help students develop a comprehensive and quantitative understanding of atmospheric chemistry, and build accuracy and fluency in scientific English. The course also prepare students for an advanced atmospheric chemistry course at the postgraduate level.
